What’s Going on With Your Tank Water Heater?

Well, we’d like to start off by saying that prompt professional service is always necessary when something is wrong with your water heater. Our technicians are available at your convenience, which means we’re more than happy to fix your water heater in the coldest months of the winter. However, that might not be the most convenient time for you, as we’ll explain in this blog post.

The truth is that while hot water is important all year round, it’s less important during these hot summer months. Think about it, taking a cold shower isn’t the worst idea when temperatures are in the 90s and it’s hard to get respite from the harsh light of the sun. Or, if you’re just washing your hands, washing them with cold water in the summer is pretty nice when compared to washing your hands with cold water in the winter.

Here are a few reasons why you might call us for water heater service in Caldwell, ID.

No Hot Water?

While you might feel comfortable using cold water during the summer and part of the fall, it’s going to get very frustrating during the peak of our cold season. The problem is that wintertime is when we’ll be getting calls for broken water heaters that have succumbed to wear and tear, failing heating systems, and furnaces leaking carbon monoxide. In addition to a lack of hot water, here are a few additional problems that could warrant water heater repair.

3 Common Water Heater Problems

  • The tank is leaking. A leaking tank water heater is going to be a hassle to constantly clean up. Not only that, but it can exacerbate the problem of mold growth and weaken the foundation of your home.
  • There’s poor water pressure. Since water comes from your water heater, your home’s water pressure problem could be caused by a failing water heater.
  • Your water is discolored. When sediment builds up in your water heater, or if the system begins to corrode, it can cause discoloration of the water as a result.

Maintenance Helps Mitigate Problems

While you should always call for prompt repairs, water heater maintenance is invaluable as well. It’s important for tank water heaters but also for tankless systems, since the burner or electric coil needs to be checked and cleaned. We’ll check to make sure there’s not a build-up of sediment, and we’ll also check the temperature of your hot water to ensure it’s still running as it should. We could make small repairs and minor adjustments so that your water pressure and water temperature are better than they were before.

This might require us shutting down the hot water for a little bit, which is why summertime or fall water heater maintenance is a great idea.
